The United Federation of Lecturers is now throwing its assist behind Zohran Mamdani within the normal election for mayor of New York Metropolis, after the union declined to endorse a candidate in the course of the Democratic main.
The UFT’s delegate meeting voted Tuesday to endorse the 33-year-old Queens state assemblyman, lower than a month after it refused to endorse the Democratic socialist within the main.

Mamdani stated he was honored to have the UFT’s assist.
“Public training is below assault from (President Donald) Trump’s authoritarianism on the skin and an affordability disaster from the within,” he stated in a press release. “The necessity for a real fighter for New York Metropolis academics and college students has by no means been increased.”
