The Taitung Hearth Division advised AFP there have been no speedy experiences of harm or casualties.

“When the earthquake struck, the pc display screen and fan shook closely,” mentioned a firefighter within the coastal city of Chenggong.

“It was a lot stronger than earlier quakes. I instantly considered operating outdoors,” he advised AFP.

Taiwan is incessantly hit by earthquakes on account of its location on the sides of two tectonic plates close to the Pacific Ring of Hearth, which the USGS says is probably the most seismically energetic zone on the planet.

The final main earthquake occurred in April 2024 when the island was hit by a lethal 7.4-magnitude tremor that officers mentioned was the strongest in 25 years.
